Robert "Bob" B. Warneke, 90, passed away on September 3, 2024. He was born on June 19, 1934 to Joseph and Elizabeth Warneke in Freeport, MN.
Bob married the love of his life, Sharon "Sherry" Hegdal, on August 8, 1970 in Mankato, MN. He worked for Northern States Power Co in Mankato as the credit manager his entire working career, retiring in 1991. While in Mankato, he was a member of the Mankato Advisory Board, an Ambassador for the Mankato Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Mankato Credit Bureau, and the Sertima Club.
After retirement, Bob and Sherry moved to their lake home on Upper Gull Lake in Nisswa, MN. He enjoyed many years watching the eagles and the loons on the lake. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross.
Bob enjoyed woodworking and created many things, including miniature log cabins for his great-grandchildren. He especially enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family.
In 2014, Bob and Sherry moved to Duluth. He enjoyed watching the ships on Lake Superior and volunteered in setting up Bentleyville for several years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don and Jim; and sisters, Bernice and Mabe.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughters, Carrie (Rick) Gertsema and Patty Kasinak; grandchildren, Sara, Emily, Holly, Andrea, and Aaron; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe (Delia) and Dan (Judy); and nieces and nephews.
Visitation to be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, September 8th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Memorial Service at 11:00 AM and reception to follow. Inurnment will be at Lutheran Church of the Cross Columbarium at a later date.
