Richard "Dick" Bernier Sr., 89, died peacefully on March 23, 2020 at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.
Dick was born on October 15, 1930 to Harold and Helen Bernier in Hugo, MN.
Dick grew up in the White Bear Lake, MN and enlisted in the Army in 1948. He spent four years in the Army as a cook and Mess Sergeant. He was discharged in 1952 and returned home. He worked a few odd jobs before his employment as a Mail Carrier for the Postal Service in White Bear Lake and worked there until he retired in 1985. He spent 30 great years living in Hinckley, MN where he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He had a life-long passion for fishing and cooking his "Fish Frys" for family and friends. He spent his final years in a home he purchased in Sandstone.
Dick was preceded in death his parents; wife, Patricia Bernier; granddaughter, Terri Jo Bernier Bass; sisters, Loretta Pastorious and Jean Stawnachy; and brothers, Raymond and Ronald Bernier.
Dick is survived by his children, Richard (Linda) Bernier Jr., Jodi (Samuel) Sahotoo, Cody Bernier and Dana Bernier; step-children, John and Mike Mehsikomer, and Lisa (Jesse) Hellerud; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Due to the current health risks and restrictions, no memorial service will be held. The family asks that the next time you see a bobber floating on the water, take a moment and think of Dick.
Arrangements were in the care of Sunrise Funeral Home in Hermantown, MN.
He will be forever missed and loved. We love you Dad and Grandpa.
