Richard Johnson, 89, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in his home in Rockford, IL.   Richard was born in Duluth. He was a twin son (Brother Raymond) born to Alfred and Jenny (Anderson) Johnson on December 7, 1926.  Richard and his brothers, (Gunnar, Raymond and George Johnson) were raised at 415 Quince Street. He served in the US Army, WW II.  Married Bernyce Bergholm in Duluth who preceded him in 1974.  They raised three children in Rockford, IL where Richard worked at Rockford Products and Sundstrand Aviation as an electrician until retiring in 1992. Richard bowled in the Industrial League, camped with his family and loved to listen to current events on the radio and television.  He loved working with his hands on fix-it projects and especially growing a large garden of fruits and vegetables. Survivors include wife Dorothy (Knutson) Johnson, Rockford IL, daughter Jenny (Thomas) Roland, Rockford, IL.  Sons David (Debbie) Johnson, Franklin, TN and Mark (Mary) Johnson, Cadiz, KY.  Step daughter Diana Johnson, Belvidere, IL, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Visitation at 10 a.m. with memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Sunrise Funeral Home and Cemetery.  Please feel free to share a memory or condolence.
