Richard “Dick” Mike Jannetta, 89, of Duluth, died May 3, 2026 at Solvay Hospice House.

Dick was born in Duluth, MN to Liberato and Mary Jannetta on July 29, 1936. He graduated from Duluth Central High School where he was a proud member of the Trojan football team. He married Kathryn Ercegovich on June 27, 1969.

He worked as a printer and was co-owner of ProPrint.

Dick was an avid sports fan of all Minnesota professional sports teams as well as UMD men's hockey and football. He rarely missed a game and was known to watch and/or listen to multiple games at the same time. More than anything, however, his greatest joy was cheering on his grandchildren from the stands. Dick and Kathy could always be found attending games, proudly supporting each grandchild in the sports they loved.

Dick also enjoyed bowling, camping, walking on The Lakewalk and the Hermantown trails, having coffee with the guys and maintaining his yard to a golf course-like standard.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Ann Johnson.

Dick is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters, Lisa (Paul) Paczynski and Tracy (James) Sonneson; grandkids, Jeb (Kora Parkinson) Paczynski, Tessa Paczynski, Wyatt (Courtney Bloemke) Sonneson, Molly Sonneson, and Drew Sonneson; as well as his nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff and wonderful nurses at the Solvay Hospice House for their excellent care and compassion.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 20th at St. Josephs Church, 151 W. Linden St in Duluth Heights with reception to follow. Memorials are preferred and may be directed to Solvay Hospice House, 801 Baylis Street, Duluth, MN 55811.
