Phyllis Christine Kirby, 87, of Esko, MN, passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2024.

Phyllis was born in Blackduck, MN, on January 4, 1937. After graduating from high school in Gregory, SD, in '53, she moved to Oakland, CA, where she became a licensed beautician. During that time she married and had three children, returning to MN in '66. She then worked at Red Owl in Virginia, MN, where she was lovingly called "Red" and was known for her beautiful smile, fun personality and winning the secret shopper award (it was a big deal), before retiring in '92. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Christine Johnson; and her longtime companion, Spud Ovick.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Julie (Tom) Rautio and Joni (Michael) Lindig; son, Donald Kirby; and grandchildren, Tyler, Travis, Jacob, and Devyn.

Memorial service to be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 1st, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with reception to follow.
