Obituary

Patsy Dorothy Massie passed away peacefully on November 23, 2012, at Aftenro Nursing home with her loving family by her side. Patsy was born March 17, 1930, in Duluth to Bjarne & Elise Ritter. Patsy was raised with her two sisters and brother on Central Hillside and then South Street. Patsy married Phillip Massie on December 3, 1949, and lived most of their 56-year marriage on St. Paul Avenue in Woodland. Patsy was a proud homemaker and mother to four boys. She later worked at a bake shop on 4th Street and was Office Manager for Dr. Robert Kanter for many years. Patsy enjoyed baking and became known for her holiday Spritz cookies and homemade fudge. She enjoyed knitting, playing cribbage and taking trips South with her sister Vilma. She spent many March's with her son Todd in Arizona. She adored her weekly trek to the beauty shop "to go get beautiful" and "Donut Day" delivered by her sons. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Phillip; sister Vilma Fleming; brother Roger Ritter and grandson Michael. Patsy is survived by her sister Jean Hooker; children Steve (Pat); Gordon (Pam), Jeff and Todd; grandchildren: Jason, Jaimee, Rachel, Katie, Nick, Matt, and Christopher; great grandchildren Tanner, Samson, Jonas, Emilia and Lilly, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and extended family. Visitation for Pasty will be held on Saturday January 12, 2013, from Noon until the 1:00PM Memorial Service in Sunrise Funeral Home Hermantown Minnesota.  Inurnment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the American Cancer Society.  Arrangements by Sunrise Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
