Nita Ann Kangas, 92, of Duluth, passed away May 13, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born Dec. 10, 1930, Ironwood, Mi. to John & Ann Carli. Graduated from St. Ambrose Catholic School. Nita married Ray Kangas Feb. 6, 1954.

Nita retired from JC Penney's. She enjoyed bowling at Country Lanes North. She loved socializing with her many friends, playing cards, knitting and crocheting. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Duluth Heights. She enjoyed being a member of the Italian American Club. She cherished time with her family, especially her grand/great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, brothers Dale & Dave and sister Joyce.

Survivors include daughters Wendy (John) Mesich of Ironwood, Mi. and RaeAnn (Scott) Carlson of Hermantown, Mn. Four grandchildren Nikki (Ben) Martinsen, John (Lindsay) Mesich, Darrin (Anna) Carlson and Kristina Carlson. Six great grandchildren, Keller, Cooper, Magnolia Martinsen, Jaxton & Briggs Carlson and Leti Mesich, sisters Peggy Cramblit and Kathleen Pertile of Ironwood Mi, along with many nieces and nephews. Nita will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 28th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Duluth Heights with Mass at 11 a.m.

Private committal and interment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery with her husband, Raymond.
