Nancy Carol (Luoma) LaVoy, 74, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 7, 2020.
Nancy was born on March 26, 1946 in Floodwood, MN to Esther and Theodore Luoma. She grew up on a farm in Floodwood with her nine siblings. Her family later moved to Cloquet, MN where she graduated from Cloquet High School and met her husband Jack LaVoy. Nancy and Jack were married on April 10, 1965 in Cloquet, MN and eventually moved to Duluth, MN where they spent over 22 years living on Pike Lake. Nancy attended the University of Minnesota, Duluth and pursued a career in real estate for 27 years until she retired in 2015.
Nancy was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being with her family, listening to music, reading, cooking, gardening and boat rides on Pike Lake. Nancy was an angel on earth and now an angel in heaven. Her beauty, fun wit, warmth, and kindness will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Rudy Luoma.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jack; daughters, Brigette (Stephen) Tyson, Heather (John Klemme) Norlen, and Tara (Brad) Lien; grandchildren, Jack, Chloe, Hanna, Erik, Bria, Halie, Rex, Nick, Amara and Cullin, all of whom she loved with all of her heart; siblings: Beatrice (Richard) Ojakangas, Leonard (Wilma) Luoma, Marion Diez, Lillian Stocke, Betty Mae (Tom) Dock, Eugene (Kathie) Luoma, Alvin (Pam) Luoma, Dawn Luoma, sister-in-law, Marlene Luoma, and their families.
Due to the pandemic, a small, private ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
