Michael "Mick" William Ames, 64, of Duluth passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022 in Duluth.

Michael was born in Duluth, MN to Wilfred Isaac Rabitoy and Shirley Evelyn Wilkinson on April 2, 1958.

He attended UMD. He served 3 years active duty in the US Army and 33 years in the US Army Reserve. He served one year of combat in Afghanistan. He also earned the rank of Captain in the Duluth Police Reserve, where he served for 28 years. He was an avid reader and writer. He enjoyed playing DJ Trivia with his team ICBM.

Michael is survived by his sister, Patricia Anne (Jeff) Herrick; niece, Mindy Herrick; and nephews, Scott and Bryant Herrick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Animal Allies, 4006 Airport Road, Duluth, MN 55811.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Fosters Sports Bar and Grill owners and staff for their courtesy and friendship they gave him.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep, but I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.
