IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maurice "Morrie" Joseph
Breemeersch
March 21, 1945 – January 31, 2026
Maurice “Morrie” Joseph Breemeersch, 80, of Duluth, MN, passed away on January 31, 2026 at Hilltop Healthcare under the care of hospice.
Maurice was born in Superior, WI to Maurice Jerald Breemeersch and Margaret Elizabeth (Van Holbeck) Breemeersch on March 21, 1945.
His early years were spent in Proctor, MN, where he began his education at St. Rose of Lima Elementary School and later graduated from Proctor High School in 1964. With a passion for mechanics, he furthered his education at Salter Vo Tech, embarking on a fulfilling career at Plaza Dodge on London Road. Morrie dedicated himself to this profession, serving faithfully until his retirement from Duluth Dodge at the age of 62. He also wore the badge of honor as a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.
Morrie's heart was filled with love for his family, and he relished the opportunities to travel to their homes. Whether it was sharing joyful adventures or enjoying the warmth of their company, family gatherings brought him immense happiness. He valued his friendships deeply, often gathering with close friends for breakfasts and lunches. Morrie had a special fondness for Laughlin, NV, and he had a sweet tooth for all things butterscotch. True to his spirit, he was a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Vikings, spending many sad and thankless hours watching their games.
Morrie was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna; son, Paul; stepson, Charles Mechley; parents; grandparents; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Morrie is survived by his children, Heather (Don) Wilmot, Derek (Cathy) Breemeersch, and Stephanie Mulford (Bob Bosch); stepchildren, Laurie (Ed) Orr, Debbie (Tony) Carlisle, and Daniel (Brenda) Mechley; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and brother, Wayne (Nancy) Breemeersch.
In this time of remembrance, his family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Tim Jugasek and Tom Lambert for their countless visits and unwavering support during Morrie’s time in various hospitals. They would also like to thank the staff at Hilltop Healthcare, Aspirus, and Gentiva Hospice for their care of Morrie.
Morrie will be deeply missed, but the love he shared and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
