Mary Jane Thompson Sundquist, 81, of Duluth, passed away on October 22, 2025 at North Shore Estates.

Mary was born on June 5, 1944, in Twig, Minnesota, to Ted and Meta Swenson. A graduate of Proctor High School, she worked at the St. Louis County Courthouse in the Auditor's Office until her retirement. Mary cherished time with her grandchildren, loved her crossword puzzles, and never missed her favorite shows.

Mary was preceded in death by husband, John Sundquist; former husband, Denny Thompson Sr.; son, Denny Thompson Jr.; and brothers, Jim, Dick, and Clarence Pickus.

Mary is survived by sisters, Betty Freeman and Barbara Wilson; brothers, Ron and Dale Swenson; daughters, Debbie (Brian) Ronding  and Cheryl Thompson; grandchildren, Amanda (Nathanial) Simpson, Dennis Thompson III, Chelsey (Tommy) Gilmore, Jerica Flemister, and Nathan (Michelle) Thompson; and many beloved great-grandchildren.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at North Shore Estates for their care of Mary over the past several years.

Visitation to be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 6th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Memorial Service at Noon and reception to follow. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will be buried with her late husband, John.
