Mary E. Petersen, 90, Duluth, passed away at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center on Monday, October 9. 2017. She was born in Meding Township (Gheen), MN, to John and Lavanche {Murphy} Hamos. She was a loving mother, accomplished homemaker, and master gardener. She was preceded in death by her parents, son James {Jim} Petersen, daughter Katherine {Morrow} Carlson and sister Esther Friberg. She is survived by her sons John Petersen, Bill {Sherrie} Morrow, Bob {Dannielle} Morrow, and Dave Morrow, daughter-in-law Kathie Petersen, and close friend Audrey Johnson as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary loved animals and was fortunate to have many of them in her live and she leaves behind her beloved feline companion "Kitty Baby". Mary's family would like to thank the staff of St. Ann's Residence, Viewcrest Health Center, Essentia, and Ecumen Lakeshore for the compassionate care they provided. A celebration of life service will be held at Sunrise Memorial Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, with a reception after the service. Arrangements by Sunrise Funeral Home.
