Mary Jane Kuhlmey, 81, of Duluth, Minnesota passed away after a long illness on August 5, 2026, at Marywood Assisted Living in Duluth.

Mary Jane was born in Springfield, Missouri to Richard and Edith Jane (Peacock) Greeney on March 1, 1945. She went to high school at Duluth Denfeld and graduated in 1963. She attended the University of Minnesota Duluth for a time and went on to work at UMD as the administrative assistant to the dean of the anatomy department in the medical school. She began work there just as the medical school was being established in 1971. She retired from that position after 40 years of service. She enjoyed travelling with Dean especially to antique malls and flea markets. Mary Jane was the ultimate animal lover and lived in a place that gave her ample opportunities to view wildlife like birds, bears and deer, from her deck.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean H. Kuhlmey; and step-daughters, Deanne (Quinto) and Janet (Zikorus).

Mary Jane is survived by her brother, Robert Greeney of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania; and step-grandchildren, Holly (Cook), Derrick Quinto and Ashley (Emery).

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Benedictine Living Community and Ecumen Hospice Care.
