Martha Mary Borst passed away on Thursday February 20, 2014 at the Benedictine Health Care Center. She was born to Theodore and Clara (Kennedy) Borst on June 2, 1947 in Boca Raton, Florida. Martha graduated from Duluth Cathedral High School in 1965. After high school she attended UMD and then Lake Superior College for two years acquiring her A.A. degree. She had training in Occupational Therapy and as a L.P.N. She then went on to Huron, South Dakota and worked as a certified Occupational Therapist assistant at the Huron Nursing Home in Huron, South Dakota. From 1975 until 1981 she worked at St. Mary's Hospital (Essentia Health) in Duluth as an L.P.N. For ten years Martha worked as a Nursing Assistant at a local nursing home in Duluth. Martha was an accomplished writer and shared many of her poems with friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sisters Collette (Ted) Swanson of Two Harbors, Jeanette (Everett) Marker of Motley, MN. Patricia (Richard) Lien of Duluth, and Teresa Kaplan of Mobil, AL, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held Wed. February 26, 2014 in Sunrise Funeral Home at 1:30PM, with visitation held one hour prior to the service.
