Marjorie “Marge” Ann Bruno, 81, of Duluth, Minnesota, went home to the Lord on January 24, 2026. Born to Albert and Florence (Looft) Johnson on March 10, 1944 in Bancroft, Iowa, Marge grew up in Swea City, Iowa and graduated from Sentral Community Schools in 1961.
In addition to strong academics, Marge played softball and basketball where she excelled and was named to the basketball Third Team All State. She loved music as well and played the bass clarinet in band and lent her beautiful alto singing voice to the mixed chorus, girls glee club, and the Johnson Sister’s Trio singing at weddings, funerals, church services, and community events.
After graduating high school, Marge worked as a teller at Swea State Bank before moving to Minneapolis and clerking in the loan department at First National Bank. Marge married Charles J. Bruno on December 9, 1972, and they made their home in Richfield, Minnesota where their two sons, Timothy and Nathan, were born. In 1980, they moved to North Saint Paul (MN) where they lived for 42 years before moving to Duluth in 2022.
Marge raised her boys while working as a secretary for ISD 622 and was an active member of her church community both at Grace Church Roseville and First Evangelical Free Church volunteering with Awana, Vacation Bible School, and the church nursery. Marge loved sewing, camping, traveling, mission work, wintering in Texas, and spending time with her family.
Marge is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Charles; children, Timothy (Jill) Bruno and Nathan (Amanda) Bruno; grandchildren, May (Simeon), Gabriel (Josie), Emma, Lily, and Cora; great-grandchild, Gloria; and siblings, Dennis (Ruth) Johnson, Darlene Boehlje, and Marilyn (Ken) Nieland.
