Obituary

Marion J. Morehouse passed away July 24,2014, at Essentia Health-St. Mary's in Duluth, surrounded by her family. Marion was born March 2,1922 in Blackduck, MN to John and Eunice (Fields) Fruh. The family moved to Elmer, MN and lived in a home on the shores of the St. Louis River. She attended Elmer grade school and graduated from Toivola high school in 1940. She was St. Louis County sewing champion in 1938 and St. Louis County High School queen in 1940. She also won first place in a St. Louis County Schools acting competition. Marion worked at the Meadowlands Coop store until 1947, and was Treasurer of the Village of Meadowlands from 1965-1968. On July 24,1944, she married Albert R. Morehouse. They moved to the State of Washington until early 1945 when they returned to Elmer. In 1947, she and Albert bought a house and had it moved to it's present site in Meadowlands. Marion was an active member of the VFW Post 3044 Auxiliary, member of the Meadowlands Senior Citizens group, and served as a past secretary of the local unit of the National Association of Railroad Veteran Employees (NARVE). She attended both First Lutheran Church in Meadowlands and Hope Lutheran Church in Toivola. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, son Alan, brother John, and sister Barbara. She is survived by sons Loren and Terry (Kathy) Morehouse; sister-in- law Rhoda Fruh; daughter-in-law Darlene Oettel; grandchildren Treven (Kim) Morehouse, Tara Jo Morehouse, Stacy (Jeff) Cowling; step grandchildren Scott (Robin) Maki and Mark (Debbie) Swanson; five great-grandchildren, three step great¬grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. At Marion's request, no services will be held. Arrangements and interment by Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Highway, Hermantown, MN
