Marie Louise O'Leary Barta, 81, of Duluth Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 with her family by her side.

Marie was born in Duluth, MN to Gregory and Victora O'Leary on October 30, 1939. She married David Allan Barta on September 8, 1962. She started her family as she had moved to the Twin Cities. She worked at the-City of Maplewood for 18 years before retiring. She enjoyed writing poetry, volunteering at the woman's prison ministry, and teaching Sunday School. She always had a smile on her face and was loved by whoever she came in contact with. She was a loving mother, full of life and laughter.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Daniel O'Leary and Patrick (Carol) O'Leary; and sister-in-law, Sharon O'Leary.

Marie is survived by her husband of 58 years, David Allan Barta; children, Gregory Barta, Daniel Barta, Theresa Barta, and Michael (Marcella) Barta; grandchildren, Jillian, Isabella, Daniel and Jeren; siblings, Jim O'Leary, Michael (Norma) O'Leary, Eileen (Michael) Schmidt, Elizabeth (Sisto) Santodonato, and Rita (Michael) Krisak; and sister-in-law Paticia O'Leary.

Services will be announced at a later date due to COVID.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Golden Oaks Assisted Living in Proctor for all their love and care they gave Marie and support to David.
