Margaret Ann Nelson, 79, of Duluth MN passed away from cancer on February 25, 2020.
Margaret was a lifelong resident of Duluth. She was born September 9, 1940 and grew up in the Central Hillside area, attending Jefferson Elementary, Washington Junior High and Central High School. Prior to her marriage, Margaret attended business school and worked in the banking industry. After marriage, she was a homemaker most of her life but worked for a short time at Rathert Chevrolet in Duluth.
Margaret married Ron Nelson on November 24th, 1961 in Duluth and they had three children, Beth, Brian and Paul. They lived in the Duluth Heights area until the early 1970's when they relocated out to the Pike Lake area. Both Ron and Margaret were lifelong members of the Duluth Retriever Club. Margaret owned her beloved "Ozzie", a Yellow Lab whom she enjoyed watching Ron train and compete with as they traveled to various hunt tests and dog trials throughout Minnesota, and the surrounding area.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Ora Kenneth "Ken" and Marjorie Elizabeth (Wiltsie) Mickle; and her husband, Ronald Carl Nelson.
She is survived by her three children, Elizabeth Nelson of St. Cloud, Brian (Heidi) Nelson, and Paul (Jill) Nelson of Duluth; five grandchildren, Matthew, Melinda, Nolan, Trent, Derek; and brother, Dennis I. (Kathy) Mickle of Carlton, MN.
The family would like to thank the staff at BeeHive Homes of Duluth and St. Croix Hospice of Hermantown for their care and support of Margaret over the past five months.
A private gathering and burial will be planned in the near future.
