Margaret Ann Johnson, 80, of Hermantown, Minnesota, passed away at her home, surrounded by family, on June 8, 2026. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. 

Margaret was born on August 23, 1945, in Duluth, Minnesota. On April 11, 1964, she married her “one and only,” the late Theodore Johnson. Together, they built a loving home and raised five children, creating a family that grew to include 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. 

She is survived by her children, Tammie Colley, Darin (Becky) Johnson, Lisa (Nic) Zapko, Kim, and Brad (Jackie) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Theodore Johnson; and her son-in-law, Jerry Colley. Margaret was devoted to her family and treasured every moment spent with them. 

She stood in awe of nature and its beauty and found joy in listening to music, dancing, playing cards and traveling. Her Catholic faith was quiet but a steadfast devotion to “The Good Lord” and an important part of her life. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Duluth, Minnesota. Margaret’s love and devotion to her family will be remembered always. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply. 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Essential Health Hospice nurses, especially Karen who always brought comfort and peace to Margaret and her family. This included medical support as well as warmth, patience and kindness during this difficult time. 

Visitation to be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 22nd at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4789 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, with Funeral Service to follow at Noon. We welcome you to come and share in the celebration of Margaret’s life.
