Marcella Joan (Janczak) Thompson, 88, of Esko, MN, entered into heaven on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Marcella was a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother and great-grandmother. Marcella was born in Duluth to Joseph and Sophie Janczak on December 4, 1929. She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1948. After graduation, she worked as a secretary at the Marshall-Wells Company in Duluth, MN. She met her love, Arthur Thompson at a dance, married him on September 8, 1956, and spent the next 62 years as an example of exceptional love and kindness for her family. Anyone who met Marcy experienced her gentle, loving spirit. Marcella was a homemaker where she enjoyed gardening, baking, watching birds and being with family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Josephat's National Catholic Church, where she was a choir member. Marcella was preceded in death by her beloved "Mama & Tata" (parents), Joseph and Sophie; brothers, Frank and Stanley; sisters, Marie (Phil) Bassa, Irene (Ted) Bassa, Florence (Marvin) Lofald, Dorothy (Edward) Bussa and her twin, Margaret Pederson. Marcella is survived by those who dearly loved her: her husband of 62 years, Arthur Thompson; children, Terry Thompson and Leeanne (John) Baker; grandchildren, Naomi (Nathan) Bents, Ian (Tara) Thompson, Derek (Jessica Stevenson) Baker, and Andrew Baker; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Bents, Jeremiah Bents and Lilly Baker; brother, Wallace (Eileen) Janczak; brothers-in-law, Howard Pederson and Stanley (Shirley) Thompson; sisters-in-law, Genevieve and Charlene Thompson; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. VISITATION: 10 am on Tuesday, September 18th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with funeral service to follow at 11 am. Family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. George Apostolou, Dr. Jesse Coenen, St. Luke's emergency room and cardiac intensive care unit, and Barnes Care staff for their excellent, loving care.
