Lorraine Evelyn French, 87, of Superior, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026, in Duluth, MN, with her family by her side. She was born on August 30, 1938, to Donald and Ida Biller at St. Joseph Hospital in Superior, Wisconsin.

Lorraine graduated from Superior East High School in 1956 and went on to become a dietician, working in the food and beverage departments at Zayre Shopper City and Lakehaven Manor in Duluth, MN. On August 31, 1957, she married Howard French, and together they shared 52 years of marriage until Howard’s passing in 2009.

In 1981, Lorraine became a proud member of the Moose Lodge, where she volunteered countless hours serving community groups and supporting Lodge fundraising events. Among her most cherished accomplishments was earning her Senior Regent, Past Regent, and College of Regents degrees from the International Moose Association.

Most importantly, Lorraine was a devoted follower of the Catholic Church and carried those traditional values throughout her life, passing them on to her four children. Above all else, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, and greatgreatgrandmother who treasured every moment spent with her family.

Lorraine enjoyed dancing with her beloved husband, Howard, and could waltz so gracefully it appeared as though the two of them were floating across the floor. She also loved camping, fishing, knitting, Bingo, and sharing many enjoyable evenings playing “654” and “Chase the Ace” with friends and family.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her father, Donald Biller; mother, Ida Biller; husband, Howard French; son, James French; daughter, Jean French; brother, Thomas “Tom” Biller, son-in-law, Bill Christian; and grandson, Andrew Downs.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Deb Christian; son, John French (Krisandra); sisterinlaw, Marsha Biller; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Don Biller; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, MN 55811. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m.

A private family burial will take place at Oneota Cemetery in Duluth, MN.
