Leroy Eric Anderson, 70, of Hermantown, passed away on July 1, 2022 with his sister Linda by his side at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living. Leroy had a stroke Dec. of 2018 and then was diagnosed with cancer in Feb. 2022.

Leroy was the third child born to Geneva (Churchill) and Roy Eric Anderson in Duluth on Dec. 14, 1951. He graduated from Hermantown High School in 1970. Leroy and his mom moved to Edgewood Vista in June of 2019 and shared an apartment until her passing on Oct. 1, 2021.

Leroy loved the outdoors. He worked for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a Chemist for 43 years and loved the trips to the Gulf of Mexico to get samples for research. He had a green thumb with his beautiful flower and vegetable gardens and was especially interested in the many varieties of orchids. He also enjoyed taking his mom shopping, out to lunch, and up the road to the casino.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Kari Lynne Wetterlind; and nephews, Gary Berg Jr. and Baby Boy Reitan.

Leroy is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Heine, Linda (Donald) Reitan, and Sue (Greg) Talus; brother, Rodney (Lynn) Anderson; many special nieces & nephews, great-nieces & nephews, and great-great-niece & nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Vista for the love and care they gave him, Caring Edge Hospice for all they did for him and the family, and especially Amy from Caring Edge. We thank you all.
