Lauren "Sonny" Richard Peterson, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a brief battle with a malignant brain tumor and is now reunited with the love of his life, Kathy.

Sonny was born in Duluth to Caroline and Anthony Peterson on June 18, 1939. He served as a cook in the U.S. Navy.

Sonny is survived by his daughters, Anna Peterson and Mary (Greg) Kresal; grandchildren, Danielle (Marcus), Alli (Cody) and Stephen (Tonya); great-grandchildren, Julius, Harper, Gianna, and Emma; many nieces and nephews; and special friends in the Ciurleo family.

Visitation to be held at 1 PM on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Memorial service and Military Honors to follow at 2 PM.
