IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kathryn "Kathy"
Mae Lebrasseur
April 19, 1957 – July 29, 2024
Kathryn Mae LeBrasseur, 67, of Cloquet, passed away at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, Minnesota, on July 29, 2024. She was born in Duluth on April 19, 1957.
Kathy was the definition of "all the things": a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, mother-in-law, grandmother, a professional, friend, and an individual. Somehow, she also managed to be all-in for every single thing she was.
Kathy celebrated the people in her life. To know her was to know someone saw you, appreciated you, and believed you belonged. Even cats in her neighborhood stopped regularly to give their regards and enjoy her company. She made time for everyone and everything, from concerts with her Cary to her nieces' weddings, from grandchildren's choir concerts, sporting events, and hobbies to a cup of coffee or chat on the phone. Whether she was bundled up at an ice rink with Sabra or in blankets watching anime with Tylor, she was always there and fully present.
She also celebrated life itself. She seized her formidable combination of intellect, focus and persistence and put them to use on everything from artistic projects to a degree and career in nursing. She didn't fear missing out – she refused to. She also brought other people along with her on her adventures, seeing the U.S. Open with a friend, going to Florida with her son Ryan and grandchildren Jackson and Alyce, and seeing Las Vegas with her dear friend Michelle. She went to too many places to list here – Kathy also had more energy than an entire northern town powered by coffee.
Over the course of her life, Kathy made the most of it. She volunteered, welcomed meeting new people, and loved the people already in a way only she could.
She will be celebrated and remembered by many: her sons, Jamie and Ryan; bonus daughters, Marie, Sabra, and Michelle; siblings, Rick, Tanni, Guy, and Karen; brother-in-law, John; grandchildren, Tylor, Jackson, and Alyce; and her grandkitties. She was certain she would be welcomed by her late and beloved husband, Cary; parents, Miles Porter and Donna Nick; and will be bringing love and messages to the many others waiting to hail the traveler.
Visitation to be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 10th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, with Memorial Service at Noon and reception to follow.
