Kathryn 'Kathy" Gurine Daveau, 83, of Midway Township near Proctor, MN passed away on Tues. Dec. 10, 2019 at Sunnyside Health Care Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet. Kathy was born in Duluth on Jan. 10, 1936 to Yule and Catherine (Fleming) Eaton. Kathy wed James "Jim" Daveau on Sept. 17, 1955 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Duluth. They resided in West Duluth for their first few years of marriage before moving to the home they built in Midway, where they became very active in the community. For most of their marriage, Kathy was a very busy stay-at-home mother, raising their five children. Kathy particularly enjoyed family get-togethers and always made special items of food or clothing for her children and grandchildren. She was very involved with many craft projects which she readily shared with others. Her family was her greatest joy and blessing. The family spent many summer days camping at various sites in MN, WI, and Canada. Kathy and Jim also enjoyed golfing, especially during their late winter get-aways in Kentucky. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James and Russell; aunt, Gerda McLaren; and uncle, Orville Fleming. Kathy is survived by her husband of 64 years, James; sons, Thomas (Gail), Jeffrey (Shelly), Donald (Brenda), and Gerald (Kelly); daughter, Brenda (Steve) Paulson; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (John) Lintula; sisters-in-law, Betty and Katie Eaton; and 5 nieces and 2 nephews. Visitation will be held at 12 pm on Sunday, Dec. 15th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with memorial service to follow at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Alzheimer's Assoc.
