The Sullivan family announces the loss of Karen Ruth Sullivan.

Karen, 81, of Cloquet, Minnesota, passed away on September 29, 2024 at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, Minnesota.

Karen was born in San Diego, California to Amy and Aubrey Sullivan. She and her family lived at various times in California, Arkansas and Minnesota. She attended Central High School in Duluth, Minnesota but did not graduate. She was not able to be employed as a result of personal difficulties.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; as well as her younger sister, Helen South.

Karen is survived by her brother Leland "Lee" Sullivan and his wife Gretchen.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Robert Shofner and family of Cloquet for more than two decades of caring service to Karen.

Karen was a kind and gentle person who was fortunate to have spent the last portion of her life in a quiet and pleasant residential location with kindred associates and a close knit family.

She enjoyed many family picnics, visits to local restaurants and shops. Summer outings, boating experiences, and sometimes flying snow on winter rides with Robert while snow plowing.

Committal service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 10th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, followed by interment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Duluth Gospel Tabernacle, 1515 West Superior Street, Duluth.
