Karen Elaine Schramek, 77, of Duluth, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2017, at Primrose Retirement Communities. Karen was born on February 5, 1940, to Carey and Maxine Majors in Kansas City, Kansas. Karen married Milton Schramek Jr in 1961. She was a devoted military wife of 53 years. Karen worked at JCPenney before retiring. During her retirement years she was an active member of the Red Hat Society, she enjoyed playing cards and bingo, and she LOVED shopping. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton; and son-in-law, David Ruse. Karen is survived by her children, Mary (Andy) Verhel, Linda Ruse, and Mark Schramek; grandchildren, Michael (Tina) Oliver, Jason Oliver, Justin (Crystal) Shears, Lauren Verhel, Lindsey Verhel, Blake Mercill, and Morgan Schramek; five great-grandsons; and brother, Carey Majors. VISITATION: 6 pm Tuesday, November 28th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with a funeral service to follow at 6:30 pm.
