Julie Jean Mehling, 56, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2022 at her home. Our beautiful Julie brought a bright energy everywhere she went. She was devoted to her mother, and loved spending summers with her as a child, going to rummage sales, Brighton Beach, and collecting rocks. Julie graduated from Duluth East High School in 1984. She loved shopping, clothes, changing her style, making new friends, Freddie Mercury, and Sammy's Pizza. In addition to being very tidy and organized, Julie was a natural, kind-hearted, and generous care-giver, which led to her long career as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) with a specialty in hospice care. Julie was a private person, and enjoyed solitude, but she was also friendly, open-minded, and accepting of others. She loved snuggling up on the couch with her dog, watching movies and crime shows. She spoiled her niece and nephew, and loved her dogs Shelby and Bella, treating them like her children. Julie spent most of her life in Duluth, but struggled with the passing of her mother in 2015. She moved to Arizona in 2018 to spend more time with her father, but continued to struggle with health problems and pain. Her family likes to imagine her resting in peace with her mother.

Julie was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Haney. She leaves behind her father, Paul Mehling; stepmother, Karin Garvue Mehling; stepfather, Dick Haney; sister, Kimberlee Wait (partner Jack); brother, Rian Mehling (partner Lisa); nieces, Karenna Wait and Valerie Norman; nephew, Donovan Wait; stepsiblings; and her beloved Bichon Pekingese, Bella.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Julie's life at a Visitation at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Memorial Service to follow at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Animal Allies Humane Society, a charity Julie was fond of.
