Julie M. Kruger, age 42, of Duluth, went home to be with God on June 28, 2016, while surrounded by family at St. Mary's Hospital after a very short illness. She was born on January 7, 1974, to Terry and Patty Shogren. In 1992, she graduated from Hermantown High School. Julie enjoyed working as an executive assistant of outpatient services at Essentia Healthcare where she will never be replaced and greatly missed. On October 23, 1999, she was united in marriage with Daryl Kruger. They raised three beautiful children together. Julie felt that her greatest accomplishment in life was her children. She was a very active member of Salem Lutheran Church where she was a volunteer and mentor with various Sunday school programs. She raised thousands of dollars for the Special Olympics through the Polar Bear Plunge. Julie was known as a giving person and even in death, her giving continues as her donation of tissues and organs will touch the lives of as many as 70 people. Julie is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Larry Streu; paternal grandparents, Pete and Ceil Shogren. Julie is survived by her husband, Daryl; children, Calie, Rya, and Tyler; parents, Terry and Patty Shogren; sister, Lisa (Cory) Reno; maternal grandmother, Gloria Streu; Godparents, Laurie Peters and Jack Shogren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and friends. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Salem Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30th, 2016 at Salem Lutheran Church from 4:00-7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.
