Joyce Fae Baker, 89, of Duluth, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017, with her two nephews Gerry and Greg Olson by her side. Joyce had been a resident of Keystone Bluffs. Joyce was born in Blackduck, MN to Cleon & Mary (Randolph) Baker on May 5, 1928. She attended Blackduck High School and moved to the Twin Ports during WWII. Joyce was employed in Food Services at UMD and retired in 1994. Joyce always put family and friends first. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, and always had a special place helping others. She and her twin sister, Jean LaFavor, wintered in Arizona for many years after retirement. Her strong Christian faith was her drive for being an active member of Lincoln Park Community Church (formerly Temple Baptist) for many years. Joyce will be deeply missed by many family and friends, including her helping neighbors Kay Sehnke, Barb and Lilli Angell, Fern Burdick, and family. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Jean Mae LaFavor with whom she lived with for over fifty years; sister, Mary (Earl) Olson; and brother, Allyn. Joyce is survived by her nephews, Gerry (Peggy) Olson of Loveland, CO and Greg (Joey) of Duluth; great-niece, Erin Olson; great-nephew, Jesse Olson (Casey) of Colorado; and great-great-nieces, Payton Chavez, Preslee Chavez, Avery Olson, and Harper Olson. The family would like to thank the staff of Keystone Bluffs for the excellent care she received while residing there. A graveside celebration of life will be held at a later date for "the twins" Joyce and Jean.
