John "Bubba" Charles Schumann, 68, of Duluth, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 20, 2018, passing away peacefully while surrounded by his beloved family at Chris Jensen. John was born in Duluth, Minn. on December 23, 1949. He graduated from Duluth Central High School and married his sweetheart, Donna Schumann, on May 7, 1977. John served in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972 and worked for A.G. O'Brien Plumbing and Heating Company for 45+ years, including working as a journeyman and a sheet metal bid estimator, and retiring as part owner. He attended Glad Tidings Church (The River) in Duluth for many years and more recently began worshipping at New Life Community Church in Carlton. John loved and protected his family fiercely, and he worked hard to ensure all the people working for him at A.G. O'Brien could provide for their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marian and Russell Schumann; as well as his siblings, Brian Schumann and Mary Jo Dieryck. John is survived by his loving wife, Donna Schumann, of Duluth, Minn.; his proud daughters, Melissa (Randy) Johnson of Cloquet, Minn., and Sally (Michael) Sebastian of New York, N.Y.; his adoring grandchildren, Ryan Schumann, Kerrissa (Jake) Johnson, Aundraya Schumann, Tanner Johnson, Sophia Johnson, and Stella Sebastian; his great- grandchildren, Jackson and Peyton; his siblings Diane (Lou) Stovern, Irene DeSanto, Russell (Linda) Schumann, and Terri Pulley; as well as many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Benedictine Adult Day Services Program, the Chris Jensen staff, and the St. Luke's Hospice staff for all the love, support and compassion they showed to John and his family. VISITATION: 12 pm on Saturday, January 27th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with a funeral service to follow at 1 pm.
