IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean Elizabeth
(Peterson) Pelofske
December 2, 1930 – July 15, 2024
Jean Elizabeth Pelofske, 93, went to join her husband Robert at their eternal home on July 15, 2024.
Jean was the daughter of Roy and Mildred (Fredborg) Peterson. She was born at home on W 6th St in Duluth on Dec. 2, 1930. Jean graduated from Denfeld High School in '48 and moved around the country working in various cities, returning to Duluth in '79. She met Robert "Bob" Pelofske at Mt. Royal Manor and it was love at first sight. Jean worked for Judge Ray Erickson and retired from Hanft Fride Law in '97, when she married Bob in Las Vegas and they spent 24 years together. She also volunteered for many years at St. Lukes Hospital. Jean had no children of her own, but Bob's daughters and the Pelofske Family loved her and became her family. Bob and Jean traveled extensively and especially enjoyed bus trips. They spent hours reminiscing about their travels and the friendships they formed. Jean never forgot a thing, including names, and loved to socialize with family and friends. She never turned down a game of Old Maid or Uno with the grandkids. She enjoyed doing the daily crossword from the newspaper and made the best popovers. The love she had for Bob was unwavering and undeniable.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; sister, June; first husband, Hobbs Johnson; and husband, Robert.
Jean is survived by her stepdaughters, Renee (Dave) Dormanen and Robin Diver; grandchildren, Matthew Johnson, Brook (Chris) Gabrielson, Joshua Barney, Ashley Barney, Jacob (Brooklyn) Barney, and Jordan Diver; 6 great-grandchildren; godchild, Linda (Roger) Schemmel and her daughter, Susanne Aukes; brother-in-law, Jerry (Chris) Pelofske; and sisters-in-law, Jean Hanson and Donna Pelofske.
Jean wanted to express a special thank you to Jim and Ann Wheeler for their countless acts of kindness and friendship. The family would like to thank Jean's caregivers and St. Croix Hospice for their kindness and devotion to Jean.
