Janine "Nenne" Lynn (McDonnell) Ternes, 63, of Twig MN, passed away on May 11, 2020, under the excellent and compassionate care of the doctors and nurses at St. Luke's Hospital. Janine was born in Duluth MN to Jim and Harriet McDonnell on June 22, 1956. She went to Hermantown High School and graduated in '74. She worked as a Proof Operator at First Bank for 17+ years and finished out her working career with 20+ happy years as the friendly face at the Twig General Store. She enjoyed camping and frequented Boulder Lake and Hoyt Lakes as a couple favorites. She also enjoyed fishing, wheeler rides, Casino trips, holidays, and more than anything, being a mom. Janine was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jody; and nephew, Zach McDonnell. Janine is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Ternes; children, Amy (Sawyer Derry) Ternes and Kim "Ternes" (Matt Johnson) Johnson; siblings, Jimmy (Debbie) McDonnell, Kathy (Jim) Barry, Mike (Jackie) McDonnell, and Colleen McDonnell Seafolk; nieces and nephews, Tom (Sam) Moder, Jeremy McDonnell, Jeff (Tracy) Barry, Makayla (Aaron) Herstad, and Miranda Seafolk; great-nieces and nephews, Nick Moder, Julia Moder, Landon McDonnell, and Ava Barry; her little dog, Lacy; and many other family and friends. Janine had a heart of gold, patience of steal, and strength from angels. She'd do anything for anyone and lived her life selflessly building up her friends and family. She never lost her childlike sense of excitement, and her nature was so kind, giving, and silly. Life was all about the little things for her which grew the biggest love in all of us. How lucky we are. She will be fiercely missed.
