James "Jim" Harvey Gumtow, 67, of Silver Bay, MN passed away on July 14, 2018, at St Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN.
Jim was born in Wadena, MN to Kenneth and Lucille Gumtow on September 21, 1950. He went to school at William Kelley High School and graduated in 1968.
Jim spent most of his life on the North Shore. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed agate picking, hunting, and fishing. He wore many hats in the area: Maintenance Manager, Water Treatment Plant Manager and retired as a Custodian in Silver Bay. He had a heart of gold and could always put a smile on your face. He will be greatly missed forever by his family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Gumtow; and brother, Jack Gumtow.
He is survived by his loving partner, Diane Duckworth; children, Garret (Katie) Gumtow, Darrin (Dawn) Gumtow and Breann (Todd Dauer) Butler; stepchildren, Charlyn, Cerenity (Ben), Danielle (Pete), Jade and Tylor; 12 grandchildren; mother, Lucille Gumtow; brothers, Bob Gumtow (Natalie) and Bill Gumtow; sister, MaryJane (Shovel) Van Den Heuvel; and many loving family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6pm on Friday, July 27th at the Clair Nelson Center/Finland Rec Center, 6866 Cramer Rd, Finland, MN.
