James "Jim" Alfred White, 91, of Farmington, MN, formerly of Carlton, MN, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at home surrounded by family. He was born on March 28, 1933 in Cloquet, MN, the son of Alfred and Edna (Larson) White.
Jim served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany for 3 years. He worked at Conwed Corp. where he met his wife, Mary Lou VanDerWerff. They married on August 28, 1965. They had two children, Darrell and Devorah. Jim and Mary raised their family on Chub Lake in Carlton, MN for 57 years before moving to Farmington, MN in 2022 to be closer to family.
Jim retired from Barko Hydraulics as a welder in 1996. Since then he has enjoyed fishing, traveling, and camping with his wife, grandkids, and dog, Odie, as well as tinkering in his garage. Jim will be remembered for his sense of humor and ability to start up a conversation with anyone he'd come across.
Jim was preceded in death by his siblings, Pete White, Bobby White, and Donna Smith; and best friend, Odie.
Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary; son, Darrell (Missy) White; daughter, Deborah (Dan) Weltzin; grandsons, Austin and Chase Weltzin; siblings, Shirley Burton and Dan White; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Tilly.
Visitation to be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 30th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Funeral Service at 2:00 PM and reception to follow. Entombment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery.
