Irma C. Carlson, age 80 of Duluth, passed away on December 14, 2016 at Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospital.  She was born on April 14, 1936, to Elisabeth and Friedrich Berg in Kassel, Germany.  She grew up and worked in Germany until she married William (Bill) R. Carlson on October 8, 1956 in Frankenhausen, Germany.  In April of 1957, Irma and Bill moved to Clarion, PA.  They spent their lives together as a military family traveling the world and enjoying adventures and experiences in countries such as Iceland, Turkey, and Germany.  When Bill retired from the Air Force, he and Irma made their home in Duluth, MN. Irma loved gardening, cooking, baking, doing cross-stitch.  Her legendary Rouladen and spätzle, Ham Pot Pie, and Christmas cookies will be deeply missed. Grateful for having shared Irma's life are her children, Michael Carlson of Duluth, MN, Leah Carlson of Aberdeen, SD, and Jeffrey (Victoria) Carlson of Aberdeen, SD; Grandchildren, Rachel Dailey, Michelle Dailey, Kathrena Dailey, William (Katie) Hofer, Fritz Conroy, Brandi Aoki, and Ryan Carlson; Great Grandchildren, Logan Dailey, Elliot Wieszhaar, Jackson Raymond, Kylie Raymond, Oliva Lindner, Andrew Carlson; Siblings, Lotte Reckmann, Annie Kulavik, Hanne (Bob) Powell, Gunther (Heloise) Berg; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceding Irma in death are her parents, Elisabeth and Friedrich Berg; husband, Bill Carlson; son, Friedrich Carlson; siblings, Karl Berg and Marth Berg. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17th, 2016, at 11:00 AM at St. John's Free Lutheran Church, 3601 W. Arrowhead Rd.
