Obituary

Ida Catherine Nelson, 91, of Hermantown, passed away on February 10, 2024 at St. Luke's Hospital.

Ida was born on August 19, 1932 to Rudolph and Doris Eliason. She graduated from Brookston High School in 1950. She worked at Glass Block, then Younkers, before retiring. Ida partnered with her husband, Gene, in owning and operating Nelson's Service. Ida enjoyed reading, travelling all over the U.S., and the company of many friends and family.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Gene; and sister, Julie Flynn.

Ida is survived by her children, Carla (Terry) Netland, Cathy (Michael) Ellis, and Brian Nelson; grandchildren, David Netland, Nicole (David) Urness, and Tristen (Brandon) Ellis; great-grandchildren, Noah and Tate; brother, Oscar (Carole) Eliason; several nieces and nephews; and many close family members and friends.

The family wishes to extend a thank you to the staff at Keystone Bluffs and St Luke's Hospice for their care of Ida.

Visitation to be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 21st at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with Funeral service to follow at Noon. Interment next to Gene at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please give to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Ida's memory.
