Helen Helmi Niemi, 91, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away on October 31, 2017. Helen was born in East Lake, Minnesota, to William and Rauha Randa on September 24, 1926. She graduated from McGregor High School, and worked as a bookkeeper for a number of firms, retiring from PPG Industries on Garfield Ave in Duluth. An excellent golfer and artist, Helen's many paintings are cherished by her family. Helen was preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene (Lavonne) and Melvin and her parents William and Rauha. Helen is survived by her husband of 68 years, Eugene, and her three sons, Gary (Polly), Lyle, and Stanley (Kris). She is also survived by her grandchildren Paula (Scott) Beeman, Sarah (George) Bedlion, Brian Niemi and Mike (Stephanie) Niemi, as well as great-grandchildren Novella and Wesley Bedlion and Ian Beeman. Visitation will be held on November 9, 2017 at 10 AM at Kenwood Lutheran Church, 2720 Myers Ave, Duluth, MN, with Memorial service to follow at 11 AM. Inurnment will be at Sunrise Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Kenwood Lutheran Church. She will be missed by her many friends, past and present. Her SISU is an inspiration to us all.
