Obituary

Harriet Lorraine (Hansen) Reno, 101, passed away October 5, 2024 at Aspirus St Luke's Hospital with her family at her side. She was born July 27,1923 to Olaf and Emma (Halvorson) Hansen.

Harriet graduated from Proctor High School, from which there was always fun bantering with her grandchildren, many of them having graduated from Hermantown HS. She met her husband, Raymond Reno, through her brother Harlan who showed Ray her picture while stationed in Hawaii during WWII. Ray looked Harriet up when he returned to Duluth after the war. Ray and Harriet celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary on June 28, 2013, before Ray passed away in August.

Harriet enjoyed her beautiful gardens and plants of all types (there was not a plant she could not save), as well as feeding and watching her birds. In her 90's she started creating much loved quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to Ray play his guitar and would sing along; Harriet said she was hooked on Ray the first time he played the steel guitar for her. Ray and Harriet had thirty years with the Crafty Travelers driving around the country, from Alaska to Florida Mexico to Nova Scotia Canada. Harriet's grandchildren remember fondly receiving ice cream through the screen door of their motorhome at the family's annual camping trip to Swan Lake in Pengilly. They also enjoyed playing corn hole and cards with Grandma Ray and Harriet enjoyed doing craft projects together. Harriet would always put the finishing touches on them as she was a very talented painter.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Allen, Kenneth, Harlan, Lawrence, Grant, Robert, and Gordon; sister, Ruth; and grandson, Jason.

Harriet is survived by her children, Karen (Gordon) Goerts, Dale (Linda) Reno, Bonnie (Terry) Goerts, Cindie (Donald) Goerts, Jerry Reno, Rick (Cyndy) Reno and Karla Haugen; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren with one due in December; eighteen-great-great-grandchildren with three on the way by February; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff on 7W at St. Luke's for their compassionate care.
