Obituary

Gust A. Hendrickson, Jr., 75, of Barnum, MN passed away peacefully, December 29, 2017, with his family by his side in St Mary's hospital. Gus was born September 1, 1942, in Minneapolis, MN. He grew up in Esko, graduating from Esko High School in 1960. He followed the "Eskimos" sporting events his entire life. Gus worked for Conwed/USG for more than 41 years, retiring at age 60. After retirement he held a part time job with CAP Trico. Anyone who knew Gus loved him. He was a kind, patient, gentle man who made anyone crossing his path smile with his sense of humor and positive nature. Gus was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many trips to Pelican Lake with his family. Gus enjoyed reading, particularly American history, was always working on projects, having four or five going at once, yet he would drop whatever he was doing to help a neighbor or family member in need. Gus had an uncanny ability to remember dates and times of events in his life and the lives of his loved ones. Gus was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; his parents; sister, Lorraine; and brother, LeRoy. Gus is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Hendrickson, Christine (Randy) Hanek, Charlene Roatch, Sandy (John) Schwoch and Cheryl (Doug) Olson; sons, Alan Roatch and James (Andrea) Hanek; grandchildren, Zach, Shay, Skylar, Fhylishia, Allainie, Sara, John, Heidi, Amber, Jay, Courtney, Alan, Eden, Warren, James Jr, Archer, Odin, and Nikolai; several great-grandchildren; sister, Shar Poppe; and nieces and nephews. Memorial service to be held at 10am on Saturday, September 1st at the Esko Apostolic Lutheran Church, 25 Church Rd, Esko, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in Gust's memory.
