Glenn Richard Takala, 76, of Duluth, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, in Gulf Shores, Alabama after a courageous 15 month battle with cancer. He was born on September 26, 1946, in Duluth MN, to Aune and Edwin Takala.
Glenn graduated from Denfeld High School. He proudly worked for the railroad for 40 years. Glenn loved to travel with his wife and spend his winters "livin the dream" in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He was a talented and avid golfer. Glenn loved watching the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Aune and Edwin; in-laws, Richard and JoAnne Herman; and sister-in-law, Carla Herman.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Paula; children, Scott (Tina) Takala, Kristin Harper and Kathlean (Michael) Olson; step-children, Liliane (Deryk) Koivisto and Lisa Herrick; grandchildren, Ryan, Abby, Mandy, Dylan, Derek, Mary and Mason; step-grandchildren, Alexis, Aiden, Hunter, Cole and Gavin; brother, Robert (Marge) Takala; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, David, Donna (Mark), Bradley (April), Susan (Paul); and nieces and nephews.
Visitation to be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 2nd at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown, with Memorial Service at 12:00 PM. Reception with family and friends to follow at 1:00 PM at the Moose Lodge, 415 3rd Ave, Proctor.
