Gerald "Jerry" Robert Anderson Sr., 85, of Hermantown, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Chris Jensen. Jerry was born on June 14, 1934 in Duluth to Carl and Ione Anderson. He graduated from Hermantown in 1952. He married the love of his life, Janet Peffer, on January 5, 1957. He served in the U.S. Army 24th Engineer Co. He was stationed in Germany and was a sharpshooter (rifle and carbine) and received the Good Conduct Medal. Jerry worked at the Bullfarm, Lakehead Auto Imports, Rylan Ford Volkswagen, and The City of Hermantown, retiring at the age of 80. Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Ted. Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet; son, Jerry Jr. (Paula Kalligher) of Duluth; daughter, Shari (Tim) Hubert of Hermantown; grandchildren, Kristin Garthus, Ian Anderson, Trista Hubert, and Dusty Hubert; great-grandchildren, Haley, Aria, Kingston, Lexi, Kendra, and Kian; brothers, Don (Sandy) of Proctor, and Terry (Barb) of Minnetonka; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside Military Honors Service at 12 pm on Monday, September 30th at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, 4777 US-53. A Celebration of Life will follow from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Hermantown City Hall, 5105 Maple Grove Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
