George Leonard Carlson, 92 of Superior, WI (formerly from Hermantown, MN) passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020. He was born on May 30, 1927 in Duluth to Helmer and Esther Carlson and graduated from Hermantown School in 1946. George married Joan Bellingham in Cloquet on September 5, 1953 and together they had six children. George worked as a self-employed flooring contractor with his brother Fred and later his son Dan for 34 years until his retirement in 1990. George always enjoyed family, hunting, fishing, and gardening. George was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred Carlson; and sister, Ruth Hiukka. George is survived by his wife, Joan; their six children, Steve (Kay) Carlson, Ann (Dan) Mini, Dan (Pam) Carlson, Greg (Michele) Carlson, David Carlson, and Sue (Mark) Wasbotten; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A private family graveside service will be held on May 30, 2020 (George's 93rd birthday). The family would like to thank the Essentia Hospice Staff for their dedicated care and support.
