Gail Lynne Ernst, 69, of Hermantown, Minnesota, passed away on September 4, 2026, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, surrounded by family as she made her way to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Gail was born on June 30, 1957, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Gordon and Lois Ernst. She dedicated her professional life to the medical field, most recently serving as Quality Executive Assistant at Essentia Health.

Gail will be remembered for her love of family, creativity, and passion for crafting. She created many beautiful items that her family will cherish forever. Gail was also an accomplished competitive roller-skater, earning numerous medals and competing in national competitions, where she placed as high as 12th in classic dance and 17th intermediate dance during national finals.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Lois Ernst; brother-in-law, Dale Kitchenmaster; and grandparents Harold (Lucille) Ranthum and Leonard (Martha) Ernst.

Gail is survived by her son, Kyle Ernst; siblings, Gordy Ernst (Michael Lynch), Gerry Ernst (Theresa), Rory Ernst (Joan), Tammy Kitchenmaster, and Todd Ernst (Andrea); aunts, Karon Engman and Janice Petersen; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved dog, Sadie.

Gail’s appreciation of life's little wonders, creativity, determination, spirit for life and love for her family will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Gail's Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 12th at Solway Town Hall, 4029 Munger Shaw Road, Cloquet MN 55720.
