Eunice Angeline Helmer, 91, of Duluth, passed away on January 24, 2025, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Cloquet.

Eunice was born to Myrtle and Ole Flaten on September 8, 1933. She graduated from Superior East High School and went on to get her degree as a Registered Nurse in Oak Park, IL. She worked at various hospitals in the Duluth/Superior area, and retired from Superior Memorial Hospital.

Eunice enjoyed crocheting, her flowers and gardening, and sitting on her desk in the sun. She loved taking vacations with her family and especially being with her grandchildren.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Helmer; and daughter, Dolly Ann Helmer.

Eunice is survived by her children, Janine Helmer of Duluth, Dorthy (Mark) Jago of Missouri, Bruce Helmer of Duluth, and James (Tammy) Helmer of Duluth; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren – 32 in total!

The family would like to extend gratitude to Diamond Willow of Cloquet and St Croix Hospice.

Celebration of Life to be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Monday, February 3rd at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, Hermantown. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery with her dear husband, James, later this year. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or children's hospital in her name.
