Eugene "Gene" Albert St. Marie, 93, of Rice Lake, MN passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Chris Jensen in Duluth. Gene was born September 2, 1924, in Duluth, to Albert and Theresa St. Marie. He graduated in 1942 from Duluth Central. He worked as a machine operator and carpenter at Diamond Tool and retired from there in 1986. He enjoyed metal detecting, gardening, carpentry, and spending time with his family. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; son, Glenn; great-granddaughter, Autumn; brother, Kenneth; and sister, Harriet. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Adeline (Engdahl); children, Brenda (Arvid) Fleischer of Munger; Betty Tenkanen of Superior, WI; Shirley St. Marie Welcome and Robert (Willie) St. Marie of Indianapolis, IN; Gloria St. Marie of Duluth; Nancy (Ernie) Cartwright of Bemidji; and Gene (Coleen) St. Marie of Saginaw; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Caroline Korby; and nieces and nephews. VISITATION: 2pm Friday, January 19th at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with memorial service to follow. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and Chris Jensen.
