Obituary

Esther Clare Parker, 93, of Cable, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2022, surrounded by family. Born August 10, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, Esther was the first child of Marcella (Tomaszewski) and Herbert Rubovits, and loving big sister to Lillian. Esther grew up in Chicago, graduated from Calumet High School and completed the secretarial program at Fox College, where she made lifelong friends and became a wiz at shorthand. Esther married Melvin J. Parker in 1950, in Chicago, and they started their family soon after. In 1958, with three little ones, they moved from the big city to Cable.

Esther embraced the move and fell into life in the northwoods. Raising the family, she helped Mel run their masonry business, and later worked for many years at the Cable Post Office, where she enjoyed seeing and meeting people.

Esther was a loving and supportive mom, grandma and partner, helping us at the drop of the hat; keeping all mended and fed. Active and on the go, she enjoyed traveling, especially taking post-retirement trips with Algot, her partner after Mel's passing. An animal lover, Esther kept her dogs, cats and the backyard chipmunks, squirrels and birds happy and very well fed. She enjoyed gardening and used her harvest to cook delicious meals for family gatherings. Her yummy dinner rolls and chocolate chip cookies were family-famous; cinnamon rolls in the freezer, ready for breakfast! She rolled with what life threw at her, whether a tornado overhead or unexpected bear visits at the clothesline.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Mel; parents; young nephew, David Drake; and sons-in-law, David Madson and John Yeoman.

Esther is survived by her partner, Algot Lindmark; children, Terry Parker Madson, Barbara Yeoman, Brad (Linda) Parker; grandchildren, Melissa (Waid) Medina, Tally Yeoman, Christopher (Amy) Parker, Katelyn (Brian) Parker McGill and Bente (Patrick) Madson; great-grandchildren, Samantha (Preston) Medina, Joshua Yeoman, Claire Parker, Mel Parker, Cora Parker, Raymond McGill and Leo McGill; sister, Lil (Jim) Drake; nephew, James Drake; niece, Debbie (Lee) Brody; and great-nieces, Kelli Brody, Kayla Brody and Briana Drake.

We are forever grateful for the joy she brought to our lives and the laughter we shared. She was our cornerstone and is loved and deeply missed beyond words.
