Obituary

Einar Olson, 90, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton, Minnesota.

Einar was born on December 31, 1935, in Thompson Township, Minnesota, to Frank and Mamie (Seppala) Olson on the family farmstead, now known as the site of the Lakehead Harvest Festival.

He enlisted in the United States Army on September 5, 1958, at Fort Stewart, Georgia, and was honorably discharged on September 5, 1960.

Following his military service, Einar worked for Conwed Corporation for 30 years and later for Potlatch, where he retired after 11 years of service.

On December 5, 1964, Einar married the love of his life, Sharon Johnson. They shared 61 years of marriage together.

Einar was a skilled home mechanic for many years and enjoyed attending car shows and collecting car parts, always intending to restore his prized 1957 Ford Retractable Hardtop. He was rarely idle and could often be found mowing, raking, repairing, or building things for himself and his family. His willingness to help others and strong work ethic were admired by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Olson, Lorraine Anderson, and Donna Swanson; and brothers, Willard, Marvin, and Eddie Olson.

Einar is survived by his wife, Sharon (Johnson) Olson; daughter, Jill (Mark) Bodin and Libby the beagle; son, Todd Olson (Laura Rudnicki); grandchildren, Harlee (Josh) Johnson, Kaila Kelly, and Trevin Olson; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Maverick, and “Princess” Mia Johnson.

Einar will be deeply missed by his family and friends and remembered for his dedication to his loved ones, his mechanical talents, and his hardworking spirit.

Funeral service to be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 1st at Sunrise Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Hwy, with reception to follow. Entombment at Sunrise Memorial Park Cemetery.
