Obituary

Edward C. Sanders was born to Daisy Mae Sanders and Primus Grant on July 22, 1930 in Savannah, GA. He was called home on August 14, 2014. Joined in marriage to the former Irene Coleman of Duluth, MN on July 30, 1953, Ed and Irene celebrated 61 years of Holy matrimony. To this union came three children; Barbara (Sanders) McReynolds, Edward C. Sanders Jr. and Lyndia Sanders. Ed devoted 20 years to the United States Air Force serving his country in th US, Canada, Philippines, and Thailand. He achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and was awarded various metals and accommodations of valor. He and his family were fortunate enough to experience the world with nothing short of assignments to Delaware, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Germany and Massachusetts...to name a few. At the completion of his military service he returned to Duluth, Minnesota and worked for Barko Hydraulics as the dealer parts manager for 11 years. After retiring from Barko he became a "Domestic Engineer" until Irene retired from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Laundry privileges were prohibited as he never mastered color sorting to meet Irene's standards. He excelled at coupon clipping and price matching. Ask any grocer in the Duluth metropolitan area. Upon their joint retirement, Ed and Irene headed south to the hill country of Texas for 14 years as winter snowbirds. Ed did not know the word "CAN'T". His living moto was, "YES I CAN". Anyone acquainted with him, requesting his assistance or advice, knew he lived up to and beyond his motto. His hobbies included Music, Camping, Fishing, Travel, Woodworking and Photography. He was preceded in death by his father Primus Grant Sr., step father William Saunders, in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Coleman, brother-in-laws Wesley Coleman, Nelson Coleman Jr., James "Purcell" Rogers and sister-in-law Lucille Johnson. In celebrating his life, he leaves his loving wife Irene, his mother Daisy, his children; Barabra (William) McReynolds of Surprise, Arizona, Edward (Sophia) of Eagan, Minnesota and Lyndia of Surprise, Arizona, four grandchildren; KaMea (Michael) Hall of Chicago, Il, Kimberlee McReynolds of Aurora, Colorado, Jasmine and Evan Sanders of Eagan, Minnesota and Buddy (the canine Sanders) of Surprise, Arizona, two great-grandchildren; Michael and Anthony Hall of Chicago, Il four brothers; Bernard, Primus Jr., Joseph and Charles Grant of Savannah, Georgia, one sister, Emma Charles of Savannah, Georgia...and a host of family and friends. We would like to extend a special, heartfelt appreciation to Tim Robinson of hospice for facilitating our loved ones home coming.
