Obituary

Doug is remembered for his kind and generous heart, warm and friendly demeanor, impeccable memory, unforgettable sense of humor, and ability to light up a room. He was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He truly was a friend to everyone and will be missed by many.

Douglas "Doug" Alan Harwood, 69, of Duluth Minnesota, passed away on August 20, 2025 at The North Shore Estates. He passed peacefully with both of his children by his side. Doug was born in Duluth to Elizabeth "Betty" and Douglas Harwood on March 9, 1956. He graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1974. He owned and managed his cleaning company, Cleaner Image, until 2010. He went on to work at Home Instead for a number of years before working in Maintenance/Housekeeping at The Benedictine Living Community in Duluth until May 2025. Doug always took pride in his work and made many meaningful relationships and connections throughout his time at Benedictine Living Community. Doug also enjoyed various hobbies such as gardening vegetables and roses, cooking, grilling and smoking meat. Some family favorite meals included ribs, pork butt, teriyaki chicken legs, homemade pizza, and most notably his cream cheese and seafood wontons. He loved playing and watching golf and tennis, watching football, listening to music, fishing, photography, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Harwood.

Doug is survived by his mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Harwood; son, Christopher (Barbara) Harwood; daughter, Karsen Harwood; grandchildren, Emmalynne and Liam Harwood; siblings, Rosanne (John) Jaski, Tom (Sara) Harwood, and Paul Harwood; nieces and nephews, Diana Jaski, Phil Jaski, Sara Jaski, Matt (Alesha) Harwood, and Allie (Jared) Halloran; mother of his son, Ann (Bob) Busche; and mother of his daughter, Kim Harwood.
